Choose the right suitcase

Choosing the right suitcase can make all the difference between a stressful trip and a smooth experience. Whether you are going on a weekend trip to Paris, a business trip to London, or a long vacation on the other side of the world, EPIC's suitcase size guide helps you find the perfect size and model. Our suitcases are designed in Sweden with a focus on quality, function, and style – built to accompany you on all adventures.

If you are flying, it is important to check the rules for baggage size and weight allowed by your airline. Different airlines have different rules. Remember to always include the wheels when measuring the height of the suitcase. The dimensions we show on our products are always the external measurements, as these are the ones that apply for airlines.

How do I choose the right size for a suitcase?

How large a suitcase you need depends on the type of trip you are going on and how long you will be away. The size of the suitcase can also be determined by the climate. Summer clothes are both lighter and take up less space than winter clothes. Clothes usually take up the majority of the suitcase's packing volume, so a tip is to consider how many sets of clothes you need to bring on your trip.

The table below shows the dimensions of our suitcases in sizes S (cabin suitcase), M, and L. Note that we also have smaller and larger suitcases. For example, Discovery SeatBack (45 cm high) or ExplorerNXT Trunks (up to 92 cm high).

Cabin suitcase

For the weekend trip, business trip, or when you want to avoid checking in.
Our cabin suitcases usually have a volume of about 37-40 liters.
Perfect for a shorter trip where you want to travel smoothly, without waiting at the baggage claim. In our range of cabin suitcases, you will also find expandable suitcases that can hold up to 45 L when fully expanded.

If you are going on a business trip for a few days, we recommend a cabin bag with a laptop compartment. This way, you can bring the clothes and belongings you need to be away from home for a few days. You store the computer in its own protective compartment with an extra lock for security. By having the computer separate, you can quickly access it without having to open the entire suitcase and expose the rest of your packing.

A cabin bag is usually a small suitcase that can be taken on board the plane and placed in the overhead compartment. The size of cabin bags varies between different airlines, but the most common measurement is 55 cm x 40 cm x 20 cm. This is usually large enough for a shorter trip of up to one week or for a weekend trip.

If you only have a cabin bag and are going on a longer trip, it is important to be careful with packing to fit everything you need. Remember to roll your clothes to save space and use the suitcase's different compartments to keep your clothes and accessories organized.

Medium-sized suitcase

A medium-sized suitcase is usually between 60 cm and 70 cm in height and is suitable for a trip of up to two weeks. These suitcases usually have enough space to hold all your clothes and accessories and are still easy to maneuver.

Keep in mind that when packing a medium-sized suitcase, you should use the layering principle and place the heaviest items at the bottom of the suitcase. Then pack lighter items on top to avoid wrinkling clothes and damaging items.

Large suitcase

A large suitcase is usually between 75 cm and 85 cm in height and is suitable for a longer trip of up to three weeks. These suitcases usually have several compartments and spaces to accommodate everything you need for a longer trip.

When packing a large suitcase, you should follow the layering principle and pack heavier items at the bottom of the suitcase and lighter items on top. Keep in mind that if you have a large suitcase, make sure it has wheels and handles that make it easy to maneuver.

Have a nice trip!
